I have to say that I was surprised with the lack of explanation in the s249D notice, just a notification that he wanted to replace the director with his own, no reasons why or justification. Usually the arguments for the action are provided.
Too late to save face I think, an easy exit option seems to have been rejected, leading to this visible action.
