So, for example, 1000 shares on issue and AF has 400 he has 40%

MCR buy back 200 shares (which then have to be cancelled) means 800 shares on issue of which AF has 400 ie he now has 50%

If anything; they would issue shares to dilute AFs holding

Also; if a Company undertakes a buy back they have to announce it to the market
