The volume of shares on loan also continues to increase.. it is up over 1% in the last 2 weeks..
When shares are short sold they require covering which means the seller must have the right to the shares sold. Naked short sales have no covering entitlement and are illegal in Australia. A covered short sale can utilise loaned shares.
Shares loaned can be an indicator of short sales activity... increasing volumes of shares on loan indicate increased interest by short sellers...
