A good analogy was Ireland and the IRA. Agree or disagree with the politics is one thing but current activity is the equivalent of British government leveling belfast to stop IRA.
Ireland eventually settled into relative peace via negotiation.

The problem with Gaza seems to be that Hamas will not negotiate with Israel they want them to cease to exist. Without negotiated agreement surely this will never end as new terrorists will just fill the void and come for a fight from all over the world just like isis did? Seems to be a never ending supply of suicidal militants.
