mmhhh, not really the forum for political/ ideology debate, but your comparison between IRA and the Jewish state is just a little out of focus. There wasn't / isn't a combined world of British people that would like to see a complete obliteration of the Irish people, the way the Arab world ; Iran, Iraq, etc etc, want the total destruction of Israel and its people, if possible the obliteration of all the Jews.... As we saw and heard by the suggestions on the steps of the Opera House, because that is what most ( not all ) of the Arab world would like to happen..
if there could be a comparison it would be the bombing of the Allies over Germany, in order to stop the WWII. It needed the destruction of not only the countries infrastructure but also make its people realise the evil of their believes, just like people who believe in Hamas.
