IMHO the Chinese are super smart and playing the long game.
If they had bought all those shares in the market they would have moved the price – they are just patiently doing stepped up bidding to find out at what price the market would cave.
You remember what Stalin said – you probe with bayonets: if you find mush, you push. If you find steel, you withdraw.
They have found some nice mush and I imagine they will keep probing looking for more
