That doesn't make sense. If you borrow from yourself, you are selling your own shares in the market and then buying them back. Anyone long holder can do this if they think it will get cheaper. Maybe some tax advantages if you can legally structure a situation where you lend to yourself and short, instead of triggering CGT by selling your own shares.
