You would have thought so, I agree, but Crisafulli has refused (so far) to make any commitment to reform of the royalties system. Worse, he’s promised to adopt Labor’s budget in its entirety (presumably to avoid having to specify where he’d cut spending when elected). If he carried through on that promise, of course, it would mean no change in the current extortionate royalties regime. He needs to show some courage — if not before the October election, then quickly afterwards.
