Very strange Does you broker publish your name when you buy shares? If they are a market maker when you buy and sell shares go in and out of there account and only blocks are traded on open market. Why do you want SS to give names? Is it just because you do not understand Shorts?
I have said this before but apparently you do not get it! State street makes lots of money loaning shares from fees and interest. Holding surplus shares dilutes earnings. By Law in US, Have not studied AU law. They cannot do Nakad shorts. So there is no change in float from people borrowing and shorting. When a Shorter borows one to short SS has to replace it. +1 + -1 =0 When a shorter buys to cover and gives share to SS, SS sels quickly to keep inventory small-1 +1 = 0/
Look at Shortman Shorts in last few days dropped from 8.11% to 6.88%. If short had a big effect should not LYC gone up by this activity? LYC went down from $ 9.28 to $8.34 If you think Shorts hurt stock so much please explain this.
There are some big downsides to shorting To understand what these are and a lot more about shorts you should read this book. My guess is you will not because what you think happens is all you want to know. You should also review the AU SEC rules on shorting. In Us you have to be qualified in Shorts to do them. Part is shoeing experience in stocks. Another part is the broker gives you a book or rules and regulations and you have to sign that you read book. If the book exist in AU you should read it.
