Rocket, I am of the impression that you know a lotttttttt about manganese ore worldwide trading... and you know f...all about chemistry.

Magnesium is an alternative to lithium, not a cathode metal. Same for Sodium which CATL is introducing to counter Lithium pricing.

Magnesium (Mg) and Sodium (Na) are 4-times and 2-times heavier than Lithium (Li). So if battery weight is your concern, you would not consider magnesium as an option...

Batteries are changing, yes, I agree. And my theory is that it will change to include more Manganese, to make them cheaper (Tesla, VW and Stellantis have explicitly mentioned this), whether they achieve it or not, noone has the crystal ball to know, but it seems that this is the logical way to get pricing of the batteries and the specific energy density balance right.

LFP option is emerging again, given safety, but they are double the weight, so again, to use in trucks and utes, NM or NMC looks like is the way to go, and I can see a trade off between LFP and NM/NMC/LMO technology to dispute the low/medium car size market share.

Recent releases of economical cars are ORA (Great Wall) using NM batteries form Svolt, and this week Renault advised release of compact Renault 5 for 2022 with Envision AESC NMC batteries. The M stands for Manganese, not Magnesium.

For you info, Giyani Metals up 10% this week, same for Manganese X (director is the brother of Jeff Dahn, who developed Tesla batteries and is considered the God of batteries). Jeff chucked his brother into running a Manganese mine in Canada.... not to supply Mn 35% to the Chinese steel smelters precisely....
