Africa is known for its gem-quality diamonds, so perhaps your theory has merit. I've tended to heed the opinion of Nico Cuevas of Urbix on what he considers as quality graphite suited to anode manufacturing, though. In a webinar he did a few years ago, he said he liked some graphite in Africa but actually ousted Syrah's as an exception. He also mentions MRC in Norway and Noveau Monde in Canada. I've checked out the TAP densities of several companies and I've come to the conclusion that crystalinity is very much based in geology and tap density not so much Noveau Monde a few years back had an absolute crap tap density figure. However, they have made outstanding improvements to the tap density via the spheronisation process. So, its certainly not black and white.
