Now they get paid less for working the same hours and picking the same fruit @ $25/hour. A saving to the farmer? A saving to CGC maybe?
The farmer will still record the weights the pickers are achieving to help monitor productivity. The farmer has a two week period where they are within their rights to terminate an inefficient picker, no questions asked. If they want a job, and to get off the streets they’ll work. Newstart allowance is $273/week vs a 38hr week @ $25 = $950/week.
