The farmer will still record the weights the pickers are achieving to help monitor productivity. The farmer
has a two week period where they are within their rights to terminate an inefficient picker, no questions asked.
If they want a job, and to get off the streets they’ll work. Newstart allowance is $273/week vs a 38hr week @ $25 = $950/week.

I’ve done farm work alongside my partner who was on a working visa, did the work so she can get a visa extension. No one was REMOTELY close to $80 an hour and I’m talking 009 blueberries (easy to pick and heavier, plus a better price for the picker) in the middle of the peak season!
I even had some friends who worked directly with Costa in Coffs Harbour doing berries. Making $8 an hour was an extraordinary day, this legislation will only impact the bottom line of any fruit and vegetables company in a negative way. In saying that, the legislation is the right thing to do even if it affects stock prices poorly.
