He's a NED.
But he certainly strikes me as being one of the most hands-on NEDs I have encountered.

(I strongly suspect that having so much skin the game tends to galvanise a particularly heightened sense of care for the business!)

On a less flippant note, as a brand new shareholder, one of my reservations is that the board, as it is currently configured, is too intertwined in things and there is insufficient independence.

I think the company needs an additional NED.
