Peter, the other side of that coin is, when a CEO or even a Director resigns suddenly, without even a notice period being served, and there is no explanation for why, surely we are entitled to infer they may have become super bearish on the stock.
Is there any indication Cairns has sold stock since his sudden and unexplained resignation? He may have been constrained by having market sensitive knowledge, but if he has sold, presumably we would not know? I cannot see his stake transparently in the last top 20, but maybe in August Annual report someone may be able to discern a change then.
I think there is a good argument for requiring at least executive directors to offer some explanation for their departure.
There is also good argument to require disclosure of share trades ( sell or buy) for, say, 6 months post.
