Nothing to be scared about, recessions come and go, businesses have good years, bad ones and everything in between. Its not always up. Trying to predict the future in order to jump ship just in time is a fools game. If a company was worth buying four months ago, then nothing has changed now (in the absence of actual news), its just gotten cheaper. Will people be buying furniture and bed sheets in ten years? Will the company be able to maintain and grow its market share? Is management vigilant and prudent in the way it allocates capital? These and others are better questions to ask. Not if 'someone is in the known and want out...' kind of irrelevant twaddle. Can the market be so depressed as to drive the stock price even lower? Probaly yes. Is it likely that the company will show some sort of bad results, flat sales, lower margins etcetera? Very likely. Is that due to a market cycle, economic cycle etcetera? Or is it due to the company having no future? Is the recession going to last ten years? Who knows. Are you buying a company based on the next quarters results, or based on the probability of a certain amount of cash that it will generate over the next ten years?
