Iam sure they understand the value of the optics that Board / CEO buying on market can give the market, let alone their own belief of the value company and opportunity to purchase shares at the current EV, as they know the business, sales pipeline and opportunity better than any of us.
However $5k / $10k each doesn't really send the right message to the market IMO as to their intent in regards to the above.
It just seems like a token amount to appease pressure in doing so.
Whilst none of us know their own financial circumstances, they are almost better off not buying the parcel sizes they have as it has resulted in a number of shareholders and the broader market scratching their heads asking wtf?
Don't get me wrong, it's nice to see, but gee wizz...
$20k - $50k shows you are willing to put some skin in the game and the market will start to pay attention
$50k - 200k tells me you are serious and willing to risk some hurt money
$200k+ now we know you are serious about delivering the right outcome, LETS GO!
