Rba only reacts to Fed, they do not care one bit about consumer spending in this country. If Fed hike, they hike and vice versa. The only thing they care about is having a weak A$ to keep exports competitive. Of course they will not put it that way to the press, they need to keep some credibility, as if they can ultimately control anything.
