I have spoken to a few people from the main aboriginal group the claim involves, which is Adnyamathanha. A couple didn't want to comment, but a couple were keen for exploration and possible further development, ie mines as they want local jobs for their people and that viewpoint had been put forward at meetings that were held. As long as it is done in a culturally sensitive way.

However the person listed in the media report is from the adjoining Viliwarinha Yura Aboriginal Corporation, the majority of the areas in my understanding are not on their land. If it was, Taruga could deal with them directly and not have to go through this convoluted process of gaining ministerial approval for access to the land as the Adnyamathanha aboriginal corporation is currently under suspension for misappropriation of funds.

As to what the report recommends and the minister decides in the end is still up in the air, but I believe that the majority of the Adnyamathanha group were in favour.

The media report that was done on this was fairly clearly one sided, and Strikeline not given a reasonable opportunity to respond before publishing the article.

All IMO, good luck to holders, it has been a rough ride!
