If the company's SP is solely linked to the "Groote Project" (other posters have suggested that GR are on the verge of announcing other EL licences, possibly [or not] linked to that adventure) surely SH's will be interested in more than just the company's own announcements but also the reactions of the TO's and the environmental lobby. Where are the TO's for example in their own machinations re their stated aim of ultimately securing Sea Rights over the seaacape in question- that process being securing 1)Native Title 2)World Heritage Listing and 3) Sea Rights.

I don't believe for one moment that GR's new board are complacent or don't care (re their web site I'm sure they're re-jigging it as I write). What I believe is that they are confonted with major compexities and challenges in the face of some pretty hefty setbacks and future obstacles.

When the new board was brought in GR's own public statements intimated that a major reason was that the old board hadn't performed to expectations re building a relationship with the TO's. The short history of the new board is that they have done little better, perhaps worse. Land access has been rebuffed and the ALC continues to call on GR to abandon their "Project".

I've reveiwed all media; all the correspondence between TO's/ALC and the NT and Commonwealth Governments; all correspondence between ALC/TO's; and all correspondence relating to TO's/ALC's lobbying of environmental groups and the Greens, fishing industry etc. (and all post and threads re GOT on HC).

As a result of this exercise I believe that the starting point for GR's new board and its SH's is to recognise the reality of the trenchant opposition of the TO's and the environmental realties, rather than pass both off as the machinations of "greeny tree huggers" and non TO "agent provocateurs", as, I suggest, seemed to be the sensibilties of the previous board (and as was certainly the case on HC posts throughout 2010, and again when I began to post just recently).

I also beleive, as unpleasant as the implications are, that at some stage, if GR are determined to push on with their "Groote Project", they are going have to abandon their previous rhetoric of respect for the TO's and the environment [environmental lobby] and go to war, so to speak, with those two stakeholders...and others such as Terriory Trepang Traders and the commercial and recreational fishing lobbies.

But, as you said, time will tell. However continuing delays, while giving time for GR to consolidate and plan their next steps, also provides a breathing space for those opposed to GR's Groote Project to further strengthen their own positions eg. as just one example the TO's pursuit of Native Title, WHL and Sea Rights.

I feel that much of the frustration of SH's at this time emanates from the tendency of themselves and GR too in beleiving their own initial propaganda in demeaning the environmental issues and under estimating, in fact totally misunderstanding, TO opposition.

The test of the new GR board will be how they navigate those two realties, or, I guess, mothballing the Groote Project and seeking opportunities elsewhere.
