Pete, the director did not buy on market, he converted Options that he had been issued some years ago... Options to buy 10 million shares at a predetermined price.....
A director can BUY on market in OPEN PERIODS, those are periods of time where the director is NOT in possession of price Sensitive information that is unknown to the market..
It is not unusual for Closed Periods to remain in place for a very long time... If a Director is involved in Negotiations that take a year or two, he might be CLOSED and cannot buy or sell on market..
So when Posters often complain that Directors don't support the company with in market share buys, there could be good legal reason for not trading..
But this ann showing the director paid in $500k and now holds 50m shares is a sign of confidance...
