It seems he bought his last big lot at 94c - 2m of them in July 2010. Before that he bought over 8m at 42c approx, and 2.5m @ 33c approx in Dec 2009. I'd imagine with hindsight he'd probably have sold heaps at the top, but all the same he has done well IMO. The last dividend alone was worth 21.5c including franking credits - so he is well ahead.
Also ATM we have a weak gold price, market uncertainty regarding grades etc that may well be unwarranted, and a short term problem stemming from the flooding. So it is definitely not a bad time to buy, in comparison to the last few years.
My sentiment is short term sell as a trader, but as an investor planning to hold long term, there is a lot to commend buying ATM. I might backflip again at some stage soon - lol.
