Ha, just because the market has been strong doesn't mean he couldn't have racked up some decent losses on individual investments, especially if he plays in the small speculative end of the market (which given his involvement and investment in YOW it appears he does) - certainly someone here has a poor understanding of the financial markets...
And just because maybe he could carry forward the loss, maybe he didn't want to just to avoid having a bunch of nervous nellies get their knickers in a twist?
