I had thought the previous workings were the main impediment to development, either having to sink shafts lower, or having to go around, plus a few other modifcations to the mine plan. But most of these issues were overcome a while back, and have all been mentioned in posts dating back some time. Would agree that water ingress is certainly something they were aware of given one of the reasons the old workings were abandoned was because of water ingress, a fact the company has noted numerous times in past announcements, moreover sri lanka is monsoonal.
