Director's may take their payments in shares or options rather than wages, same for performance linked payments.....benefits both parties.....less cash outflows for a company in the early/pre revenue growth stages and better return for the director (higher wages effectively) if he is doing a good job and the company is growing. Peter is exercising his options to buy shares (400,000 options, paid 15c each for the right to get 400,000 shares) before the options he had been given expired. So he's just paying himself now for the options he received instead of wages 1-2yrs ago when the company was probably worth around 15-20c at the time?,
