The first thing that went through my mind is that Russell isn't buying, Gino is and that could be taken as a sign that Gino is more interested in turning the ship around than Russell is. Perhaps he is considering making bid for the Chair and wants to demonstrate his commitment to the company's future prior to seeking the support of shareholders for such a move. Russell does seem to have given up making an effort after the cobalt campaign.
