How about progressively increasing turnover, increasing GP ratio, increasing Gross Profit and decreasing op ex as a percentage of GP and cash flow positive trading. That just about covers all the critical KPI's I expect of a start up morphing into a business.

If sustained, all these lead lead to net income/profit. Un;ess one expects a baby to run before it learns to crawl, as is the expectation of many new age "investors".

Of course if someone can advise me that my 40 years of doing this is flawed, I would welcome a new version of sound business metrics, as long as it is not the way MMT masquerades as sound economic principles.

Have been around the block quite a few times, and learned for myself that the same old rules of business seem to apply, irrespective of the decade one is in.
