Could those with knowledge of these processes explain what the term preferred bidders refers to and the securing of the acreage for nil consideration really means. Is the bidding process finalized and did RLE get this acreage for nothing?

Have a look at Senex Energy's (ASX:SXY) acquisition of the Project Atlas project - https://www.senexenergy.com.au/operations/surat-basin-gas/project-atlas/

Was acquired through a tender process in September 2017, with first commercial gas expected in late 2019.

Project Venus could be a goer, but its going to take time and money. One thing this consortium has on its side, is Mr Ron Prefontaine. Google him too while you're at it
