Now speaking for 335,000 shares, he's by no means the director with the largest shareholding.

(Besides the founding family board members, another director has 1.38m shares, which is a reasonable holding  - although it is noted that level has remained unchanged for the past four years.)

However, almost routinely, the director to whom this announcement relates buys shares when the trading window to do so opens for directors.

For context, since his appointment to the board as a NED in August 2013, he has earned fees totally around $300k ($330k, including super).  

And over that time he has spent a little over $140k on buying shares in the company.

In other word, roughly half his fees have been reinvested into buying the company's shares.

As a shareholder looking for directors signalling their willingness to align themselves with shareholder  interests, that's the kind of benchmark I believe shareholders should expect.
