The amount he sold really isn't that much. He could have sold for a bunch of very legitimate reasons including:
- School fees
- tax
- divorce settlement
- Pay back an old non variable loan at 6%
- Investment opportunity other than NEA

There are few studies on this subject that pass the Google Scholar test.

There are few recent studies that I could find but I personally (DYOR) am more interested in if they exercise options available to them.
