Its obvious you are new to this stock. If people had followed the advice of some about the arbitrage trade you would have bought at much higher prices than currently. If the transaction falls over then you get stuck with AUL shares where the likely outcome would be VA probably later this year.
Why has this obvious trade not been taken up, well check the history of AUL, its not pretty. Mining for 3 years and losing money even at near record gold prices, multiple capital raises and a previous merger falling over at the last moment.
Beware when the obvious can't find buying support, the market has zero trust in AUL.
