Average daily COVID testing is still running at 3 times FY21 rates. Last year was about 50 000 average per day(49942 per day average reported between 1 July 2020 and 30 June 2021). This year so far, 1 July 2021 to 30/11/2021, is 177 845 per day. The past month has been a little lower averaging 150 442. So still substantially higher than last year. The 7 day average is also around 150 000 and appears to have leveled off now. The testing was more in NSW initially this year where ACL has a smaller presence, but then VIC picked up and now also more in SA(but not that much). If this continues, then earnings should be much be higher than last year if ACL can get a decent share of testing.
There is a push for testing for domestic travel to be done at public laboratories(most likely placed at public hospitals). The federal government has said they will cover testing at public testing facilities. Maybe this means that private operators will not see much of domestic travel testing. Still looking positive at this time. My guess is that first half FY22 NPAT may be around $115m-$120m. This is higher than the recent guidance of around $95m. We'll have to wait to see what more COVID chaos means for ACL and HLS.
