Hi Sabine, CEO pay is a bone of contention throughout the western world. Whilst I can appreciate the line of argument that top people should be rewarded well if they perform well, just how much they should get as a package is a tricky one. A competitive approach is usually taken where remuneration considers the CEO salaries of similar companies. The problem with this is they might all be overpaid. A relative approach is an alternative where for example a CEO could be paid multiple of the median salary in a company. CEOs would be I guess be reluctant to go this way since having it stated the CEO's salary is 50x the median salary. JP's FY20 package was over $20 million, the 50x being based on a median $200k salary. I am familiar the university sector where the majority of Vice Chancellors earn over $1m. The VC's argue that large university is similar to a large private firm and so salaries should be competitive, others have suggested 3X a prof salary should be enough (about $540k).

JP has said more than once that the SP undervalues NRW and those underwater with their investment might argue more could be done on this?
