I wouldn't take too much notice of a non believer and non holder.
Eddy Current is an accepted NDT but it is not necessarily a direct competitor to CVM.
Depends on the specific issue being addressed and my understanding is Eddy Current needs an active power supply but I stand to be corrected on that, in any event it is not Fail Safe like CVM
