I agree with above, that 70.000 is not substantial and others can have more, but as I see it: these directors are paying money to be part of their company. In other sectors like banking, directors tend to suck out money by giving themselves free shares through "in the money" options. They could have done that too, instead, they double down on their project.
Directors have different earning models than hardcore investors. So, to me it's a sign of confidence and good practice.
