Adults often use terms like "in a moment", "immediately", "soon" or "in the summer". But in order for children to be able to do something with these phrases, it is best to link such time statements to events.

To be clear: "This was clearly another unforgivable mistake by Uncle JP!"

Small children do not yet have a sense of time. That doesn't develop until they are five to seven years old!Children understand time spans better when they associate something with concrete experiences. "The day after tomorrow we'll go to grandma's" is often too abstract for them. Instead of the day after tomorrow, you could say, "We'll sleep two more times, then we'll go to Grandma's."
