IMO price sensitive news (positive or negative) can develop in an instant when you're drilling a behemoth like the high pressure, oil saturated, sedimentary pile that is Alameda! (Even if its an "appraisal well").
I'd suggest the McDaniels re-estimate timing is a more predictable event.
All I'm saying is quite simply you can't predict an outcome of drilling ahead of it happening, and thus price-sensitive information could develop at any time. Clearly AP would've been aware of nothing of significance at the time he purchased the shares.
