Today's is a solid article, and contains a good quick-introduction to Quicksilver for some of the fresh faces popping up round here:
Critical metals project
The 50km2 Quicksilver project covers a belt of mafic-ultramafic rocks that are prospective for nickel sulphide and nickel laterite mineralisation near Lake Grace.
Excellent local infrastructure provides easy access to grid power, sealed roads and a railway line connected to key ports.
It currently has a resource of 26.3Mt grading 0.64% nickel and 0.043% cobalt for 168,000t of nickel and 11,300t of cobalt.
Stage 2 metallurgical testing completed last year has already developed the company’s understanding of the unique clay mineralisation at Quicksilver.
This resulted in the identification of a customised multi-products flowsheet to produce nickel-cobalt and iron-nickel-cobalt-chromium concentrates as well as industrial products.
Notably, this process would have low energy requirements due to the physical attributes of the free digging ore.
An excellent follow-up to Tuesday's Stock Head trumpeting of Quicksilver's likely added sweeteners:
Golden Mile Resources recently found scandium and rare earths at its Quicksilver nickel-cobalt deposit located near Lake Grace in WA, which could be a potential value enhancer for the ore body.
The company confirmed scandium intersections including 32m at 124ppm from 3m (including 20m at 154ppm from 5m), along with rare earth element mineralisation of 4m at 3,295 ppm TREO (including 1m at 7,915ppm TREO).
While the primary focus remains on a scoping study for extraction of the nickel and cobalt resources, the economics of the project could see a nice boost.
“Because the scandium and rare earth are contained within the same tonnes which would be mined, they provide potential additional revenue streams into the economics and/or by-product credits,” Golden Mile Resources (ASX:G88) CEO Damon Dormer said.
