Just considering what the recent announcement of the variable cell voltage translates to from a retention perspective ....
I have always assumed that the retention is a product of the electrical isolation of the cell, perhaps the capacitance of the cell; effectively the ability of the cell to retain a particular level of charge ... and these things relate directly to the cell voltage.
If the company has been able to prove that the static cell voltage can be varied, it obviously means that there is no concern from a leakage perspective, and that therefore the cell will operate successfully at a variety of total charges without discharging.
As the charge retained by the cell after a set time is what determines the retention of that cell, if the charge can be increased or decreased according to another factor, it really renders the entire retention conversation redundant.
