    Let's hope no renewal. If sale of the company is still the goal gotta kill that licence option ASAP.

    just burns a hole in the value proposition to a potential buyer "oh by the way HGST has an option to licence the IP and pay you a discounted royalty... So no, you won't have the monopoly on this tech".
