For anyone that hasn't registered with automic it's now available to do so and only takes about 1 minute.

I have several ASX listed companies that don't put an X or an I on my holding statements, so if anyone is having trouble registering because they aren't sure whether to put an X or I in front of their HIN then here's what you should use (it's pretty basic but not explained very well so it might stump some, we may need all the votes we can muster soon depending on what's announced over the next couple of months).

"A HIN, being Broker sponsored, commences with an 'X'. If you have an account number from a CHESS statement you will need to add an 'X' to the front of the account number before logging in.

A SRN, being Issuer sponsored, commences with an 'I' or 'C'. You will need to enter the 'I' or 'C' followed by the 11 digit number before logging in."
