the incentive is not always about this job, but that performing well in this job leads to the next job, and then the next one and then before you know it your on a 2 million base salary in a ASX 100.
You're right - at 1m pa it's not about the money its about the power and influence, but having said that, if you look at the total package (and I only glanced at it) it would appear that when you have the ability to double your package by putting in the hard yards - there is your incentive.
