Yes I understand the way MCP works,
But the physics and the calculation remains the same, to output 350kg per day you need at least 18 lasers working simultaneously, no matter if they are all working on different layers (as aurora) or all working on the same layer at a time (as EOS/SLM and others).
Lets say you have two machines with 4 lasers :
- One with 4 lasers working simultaneously on the same layer (as renishaw/EOS M400/SLM500)
- One with 4 lasers each working on a different layer at the same time (as aurora)
Except recoating time differences, the two machine will take the same time to complete 4 layers.
But I agree that the recoating process is faster with this solution but the recoating process usually corresponds to 10 to 30% of the total build job. So it cannot explain the total increase in printing speed.
So either they are using an incredible amount of laser, either they use really high power laser at the expense of resolution or material quality (but I'm not convinced the it is enough to acheive this productivity anyway).
