Well previously that was a good idea... but now... after recent legislation ascended, you are now liable for some future activities in the permit. I believe the safest thing to do legally speaking would then be to not expose yourself to any future liability. This legislation is controversial because through no fault of your own you could be called back to pay for decommissioning...

I'm soo happy the majority of our focus is in Cuba, I believe Australia is behaving in a hostile way towards oil/gas, it's outrageous (source of evidence of hostility: https://www.comcourts.gov.au/file/Federal/P/WAD106/2022/actions).
