I wouldn't assume that the largest shareholder didn't have faith in the board (or at least new directors) as doubt he even knows them and they don't own the legacy issues. He may have had an issue with the chair but he's still there. These issues are never as simple as they are touted on this site.

If Datt is behind his appointment (unlikely the chair randomly called him and say "hey why don't you join the board" ), lets see if he can work in the interests of all of us and not just his own agenda if thats his intention. Time will tell how this one plays out . I personally hate shareholders on boards as history says they eventually end in chaos - Canon Brooks approach at AGL was much better as he appointed independent representatives as recognises being a board director is not his skill set - smart man.
