Red poppies recall Flanders fields, and were said to be the first flower to bloom after the devastation of this area in 1917, after the battle of Passcendaele. Remembrance day honours the losses of WW1, but specifically the Western Front.
Anzac day honours the landing at Anzac Cove Turkiye in 1915. Rosemary grew wild there, and it is generally worn on the lapel to honour this tragic campaign. My great uncle was in the light horse, and charged to his death at the battle of the Nek.
Lest we forget.
