Just a thought, we may be badly overestimating the number of shares available to trade on the ASX,
Yes 75M have been transferred to the LSE,
But what about the 23% owned by the SWF ?, I would assume nobody has bothered to transfer those yet
And with a minimum of 20% being held by other Long term Investors, they may be PM8 CDI's but I don't think they are for sale anytime soon.
So conceivably, there are now less than 50 Million shares available to the ASX, and when we see days of 1M shares being traded we are actually seeing a 2% turnover !!! If / when shareholders realize how tight the market is they won't be so quick to accept the pittance currently being offered by the Brokers.
