Iron ore sold by the majors like RIO can be sold in a number of physical forms. And different forms are optimal for different purposes, different blast furnaces - higher iron ore content (magnetite vs hematite) for higher quality steel.
This cut and paste is from RIO's quarterly report out today. Which you grab and read easily enough. All ore isn't the same.
I think, (I don't claim expertise), blends, are more likely to be wet (ie contain water) because of the way they are processed or blended together (wetting with water makes mixing easier) from different sources of dug dirt mixed together.
If anyone can see I'm wrong please do speak up.
