As far as I know, the only pure underground gold mines that have proven profitable are the ones with relatively wide veins - around 5 metres or wider, unless grades of the veins are consistently running at 30 g/ton plus, in which case 1 metre veins may perhaps be marginally profitable?

Do you know of any exceptions to this (keep in mind some underground gold miners mix the ore that's come out from their underground mine with ore from satellite open cut gold ore - I'm talking about pure underground gold miners, like CTO).
