I've sat in briefly on several sessions across the 2 weeks and the case is clearly far more complex than whether a royalty was paid... It is also ex clear that both sides have committed serious money to the case, and due to that I suspect that any ruling in a month is just another step in the process - there will be appeals. With the amount of such high quality coal reserves and resources in the permit area and both parties retaining a financial tie, I have been wondering if L&M may've been the other party that offered capital to help BRL buy the SE assets. It could've been a way to help kickstart mining on the Escarpment so they could get their payouts... If a transcript of the case ever becomes available I'd encourage you to dig through it - there's interesting numbers been discussed in the courtroom.
